The development of environmental-oriented businesses as a factor in the international competitiveness of the national economy

Abstract

This article explores the essence of international competitiveness as an economic category and the main factors that affect it. It is revealed that in the present circumstances, the greening of production plays important part in the competitiveness growth, as developed countries (target market for industrial Ukrainian companies) are focused on improving of environmental quality parameters. It was found that efforts on environmentalization should be directed both by the state and by most business entities and this process should involve all available resources: financial, labor, production, marketing. Only in case of greening of all areas of business and reasonable policy in the country, it is possible to enhance competitiveness of the national economy. It is proved that a prerequisite for improving competitiveness through greening production should be addressed to business marketing management, based on the tracking of consumer needs and implementation of changes in production only on the base of actually existing requirements and provision of target market by constant information about the benefits of products. It is emphasized that the main task of the state is to prevent the situation when greening will lead to increasee of foreign and decrease of domestic international competitiveness - public policy should be aimed at maintaining of ecological consumption in Ukraine.
